FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

For whom are the long-term (10-month) programs?
  • The Online Training Program is a great fit for anyone seeking to make an impact in their community in a holistic and mindful way.
  • The Residential Training Program is an especially good fit for people who are in a season of transition (graduating college or grad school, in a job transition, etc.) and/or have the flexibility to move to Atlanta for a 10-month immersive learning experience.
  • Although each of these programs begin in January and have overlapping coursework, the right program for you depends on your felt needs.
    • Are you preferring part-time learning?
If part-time, the Online Training Program would best suit your needs.
*If even this is too much of a time commitment, our Summer Training Program provides the vision for whole-life discipleship over 9 weeks.
    • Are you wanting to receive college credit for this learning?
Only the Urban Community Development Program includes an option for receiving college credit through Columbia International University.
*This program is 4 months instead of the 10-month commitment for the Online or Residential programs.
    • Are you considering a Midterm position with the Navigators, specifically a work with Discipling for Development?
The Residential Training Program will provide the best onramp to extend into a two-year commitment to work alongside our team in Atlanta.
    • Are you torn between college credits and the Residential Training Program?
Do both! You can apply for the Residential Training Program and note that you would like to also receive credit for the program through Columbia International University.
*Note that the cost for this combination would be the Residential Training Program cost + living costs and tuition costs as outlined on the respective program pages.
  • Key desired qualities are that you have a love for Jesus, a heart for the poor and unreached, a learner's disposition, and are willing to step out of your comfort zone to engage in your community.

Atlanta

Atlanta, Ga., is home to the Braves, Coca-Cola, the world’s busiest airport, and countless opportunities for cross-cultural encounters.

With over 5 million people in the metro area, warm weather, and a rich cultural history, Atlanta is an ideal place to meet and serve various vulnerable populations.

That's why Navigators World Missions is excited to announce the Discipling for Development Training Academy aimed at exposing you to cross-cultural work and whole-life discipleship in this “global city” of the South.
